Mother Tongue, 12 minute
Mother Tongue is an experimental short film directed by Jun-ting Zhou, documenting a solo performance by Chinese-American artist Nancy Ma. Nancy Ma performs the famous monologue from 'night Mother 3 times: first twice in English, and the third time in Hoisan, a Chinese dialect spoken by Nancy's parents but becomes distant in her everyday American life. This performance wants to explore how different languages can connect to the speaker's identity and memory, regardless of the contents.
QUARANTINE DURING THE SPRING FESTIVAL, 11 min,
I went back to Guangzhou during the Spring Festival in 2020 when the Coronavirus outbreak started. For most of the time, I was stuck at home with my parents.
